VVA Oregon State Council

Welcome to the website of the Oregon State Council of the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA). As the state council for Oregon, the Oregon State Council coordinates the activities of local chapters in the state of Oregon. We currently have 9 chapters throughout the state.

Founded in 1978, VVA is the only national veterans organization congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. Today, Vietnam Veterans of America has a national membership of over 90,000, with over 500 chapters throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam and the Philippines.

Membership in the Vietnam Veterans of America is open to U.S. armed forces veterans who served on active duty (for other than training purposes) in the Republic of Vietnam between February 28, 1961, and May 7, 1975, or in any duty location between August 5, 1964, and May 7, 1975.

Oregon State Council Meeting - April 15, 2023

This meeting featured guest speaker Dick Tobiason, who gave the council an update on various highway memorial projects he is working on. We also had a presentation by Ken Buckles and his wife Malinda. They completed a cross-country trip in the fall of 2022 to honor Vietnam veterans across America. Their mission was to remind Americans how Vietnam veterans were treated when they returned home. They visited 38 cities in a specially equipped Hummer.
